Tuesday Tidbits will help you fill in those gaps. Every Tuesday, I\u2019ll teach you simple techniques that you can learn in under 10 minutes and implement immediately to improve your workflow.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Intro<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Have you ever used the <strong>Legend<\/strong> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"20\" height=\"20\" class=\"wp-image-729\" style=\"width: 20px;\" src=\"https:\/\/lizlarsen.me\/bluebeamblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/legend_icon.png\" alt=\"\">&nbsp;feature in Bluebeam? It lets you easily count quantities or sum measurements <em>while<\/em> you\u2019re marking up drawings. It\u2019s a great way to get a quick initial count when doing preliminary estimates. I use this feature because, as a structural engineer, I leave the Revit model updates to someone else and I can use a <strong>Legend<\/strong> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"20\" height=\"20\" class=\"wp-image-729\" style=\"width: 20px;\" src=\"https:\/\/lizlarsen.me\/bluebeamblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/legend_icon.png\" alt=\"\">&nbsp;to get some quick numbers before my drafter is finished updating the model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"width:100%;height:0;padding-bottom:56%;position:relative;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/giphy.com\/embed\/fSYYG9MSibrmPSuIJ0\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\" style=\"position:absolute\" frameborder=\"0\" class=\"giphy-embed\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/giphy.com\/gifs\/alhezbelcomedy-neil-patrick-harris-barney-wait-for-it-fSYYG9MSibrmPSuIJ0\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Creating and Updating a Legend<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Before you start:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>When starting with existing markups you\u2019ll want as part of the legend, give them a Subject within the <strong>Properties<\/strong> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"20\" height=\"20\" src=\"https:\/\/lizlarsen.me\/bluebeamblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/properties_icon_dark.png\" class=\"wp-image-518\" style=\"width: 20px;\" alt=\"\">&nbsp;tab.<\/li><li>If there aren\u2019t existing markups yet, make sure at least your first markup as a Subject within the <strong>Properties<\/strong> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"20\" height=\"20\" src=\"https:\/\/lizlarsen.me\/bluebeamblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/properties_icon_dark.png\" class=\"wp-image-518\" style=\"width: 20px;\" alt=\"\">&nbsp;tab.<\/li><li>If you want to sum lengths or areas, first make sure you have a scale set on the page.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>To create a <strong>Legend<\/strong> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"20\" height=\"20\" class=\"wp-image-729\" style=\"width: 20px;\" src=\"https:\/\/lizlarsen.me\/bluebeamblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/legend_icon.png\" alt=\"\">&nbsp;you\u2019ll need at least one markup (or a <strong>Group<\/strong> of markups) to add to the legend. <strong>Right-click<\/strong> on the markup(s) and select <strong>Add to Legend \u2192 Create New Legend<\/strong> for the first markup. After the legend is created, you can add additional markups by selecting <strong>Add to Legend \u2192 [Legend Name]<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you copy and paste a markup that\u2019s already in a legend, then edit the copied markup, it will automatically appear in the legend as a new line item.
