Whether you\u2019re a Bluebeam beginner or a seasoned expert, we all have gaps in our knowledge. Tuesday Tidbits will help you fill in those gaps. Every Tuesday, I\u2019ll teach you simple techniques that you can learn in under 10 minutes and implement immediately to improve your workflow.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Intro<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I already went over how to automatically create page labels<\/a> based on page regions. But what if that\u2019s not an option? Maybe the page numbers are in alternating locations on odd and even pages. Or maybe some pages don\u2019t have labels at all, like those \u201cthis page intentionally left blank\u201d pages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today I\u2019ll show you how to create those page labels in a way that\u2019s not quite as quick as my previous post, but still way faster than manually doing it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This method is for book-like sequential page numbering, rather than numbering construction drawing sheets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Numbering Pages Sequentially<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The process is pretty straight forward:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Select the pages you want to sequentially number.
    1. Do this by opening the Thumbnails \"\"\u00a0view, click on the first page in the range, then hold SHIFT<\/strong> while clicking on the last page in the range.<\/li><\/ol>
      1. If you want all of the pages to have the same numbering style, you can skip this step and select the page range in Step 4.<\/li><\/ol><\/li>
      2. Right-click<\/strong> one of the selected thumbnails and select Number Pages<\/strong> \"\".
        1. Alternatively, you can go to Document<\/strong> \u2192 Number Pages<\/strong> \"\".<\/li><\/ol><\/li>
        2. Select the numbering style from the Style<\/strong> dropdown.<\/li>
        3. Define a prefix (optional).<\/li>
        4. Choose a starting number.<\/li>
        5. Double check the correct page range is selected.<\/li>
        6. Click OK<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

          Repeat for each numbering style in the document.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          The Prefix<\/strong> option is handy when you have something like a building code or an educational textbook that uses chapter prefixes before the page numbers. The below screenshot shows an example of this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Conclusion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

          I use this feature for every single code book, textbook, manufacture\u2019s guide, and any other PDF book that I want to save for later. I also use this to number pages when I\u2019m creating calculation packages with differently named subsections. It\u2019s a quick way to make sure all of my reference PDFs are easy to navigate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
